Future Farm Framework

Rethinking Farming-Consumer Relationships

The Future Farm Framework is a pioneering initiative designed to support suppliers transitioning toward regenerative agriculture through projects and connections.

Building on our transition plan commitments, we partner with farms, suppliers & clients to foster thriving ecosystems and resilient food systems.

This framework applies across a wide range of commodities in our supply chain reflecting our commitment to sustainable sourcing that goes beyond carbon reduction.

Why the Future Farm Framework Matters

Our framework applies principles related to:

  1. Soil & Water Health: Measuring Carbon sequestration & nutrient potential of the soil and/or water that grows our food produce.
  2. Biodiversity: In both the variety of crops produced and the diversity of wildlife attracted to the farming habitats.
  3. Ecosystem Resilience: Programmes that strengthen long-term environmental outcomes through space for wildlife and nature while striving to restore natural resources.

Regenerative must be innovative, measurable, and actionable – changing production and eating habits to be fit for the future.

The framework includes regenerative seafood alongside land-based products

It’s a commodity-wide approach that highlights suppliers already leading the way and supports projects that deliver measurable environmental improvements across farms.

How it Works

  1. Foodbuy & Suppliers Design Projects – Foodbuy suppliers with regenerative practices or initiatives can submit projects aligned with the framework’s goals of Soil Health, Biodiversity & Ecosystem Resilience (space for nature).

  2. Client Support – Foodbuy’s range of clients can choose to support these projects by purchasing related produce, creating demand for regenerative products or by co-investing in the instigation of the projects.

  3. Environmental Impact – Projects supported through the framework deliver measurable improvements in soil, water, biodiversity, and ecosystems and support necessary adaptation to less damaging production methods.
