Mindfulness & Wellbeing

It’s important that where we can, we all do our bit to help reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19. Working from home is one of the ways we can do this. Of course, some of us have roles that are more difficult to do at home, but thanks to modern-day technology, many of us are able to work from home and continue to do our jobs effectively.

Here at Foodbuy, we’re doing just that.

Here’s our list of top tips for preventing loneliness, staying focussed and keeping healthy whilst working from home:

  • Take regular breaks
Take short breaks, five to 15 minutes, every hour and take a longer break, at least 30 minutes, every two to four hours, depending on your task.

  • Eat well
Eating a healthy, balanced diet is an important aspect of maintaining good health and helping you feel your best.

  • Focus on what you’re doing
Know your goals, plan your time, pay attention to the present and focus on what you’re doing.

  • Exercise often
Being active is not only great for your physical health and fitness, but evidence also shows it can also improve your mental wellbeing.

  • Sleep well
The NHS recommends adults should have between six and nine hours sleep each night.

  • Do something creative
Research shows that learning new skills can also improve your mental wellbeing by boosting self-confidence and raising self-esteem and helping you to build a sense of purpose.

  • Communicate with peers
Take time each day to pick up the phone or make a conference call to speak with peers. Good relationships are important for your mental wellbeing as they give you an opportunity to share positive experiences as well as providing support to others.

  • Stay hydrated
The NHS says we should drink six to eight glasses of fluid a day, about 1.2 litres. This includes water, tea and coffee.
