Market insights drive seasonal profits for Foodbuy clients

As a follower of our blog you may have seen how our insights driven approach to procurement drives profits for our Foodbuy clients. Last time we looked at how we and our key supply partner, UCC, suggest you get the best out of your seasonal drinks offering.

You can catch up here if you missed it. It’s a core part of our culture that we work with all our Foodbuy clients, not only to ensure they can buy the best quality produce at the best possible prices, but so that we support them with insights from our team and our suppliers. We think these are key levers to driving profits for our clients.

In the run up to the hectic foodie heaven that is the Christmas period, we asked our Food to Go category experts for their top tips.

We turned to Sophie Daniels, Head of Category and Lauren Thompson, Category Buyer for our Food to Go category, and asked them for their best advice on attempting to drive sales in the ever competitive food to go sector.

Sophie advised: “The key is providing customers with clear choices. Ensure you are stocking your seasonal Christmas range in planograms alongside at least the top 10 selling lines. This will enable you to give your consumers choice, as well as capturing those who are looking for a festive treat.”

“Make sure when stocking new and exciting sandwiches you put them centre stage and also make the most of the opportunity they provide. There is a real opportunity to upsell on interesting and unconventional flavours, so make sure you are charging a premium where possible” added Lauren.

A significant part of the Foodbuy offer is pragmatic and straightforward advice and we combine this with our drive for constant innovation – both from our team and our key supply partners, like Adelie Foods. We choose to work with Adelie because they put the consumer at the heart of everything they do, they lead innovation and development in a category that demands constant change.

Adelie Foods are one of the leading suppliers in the booming out of home market. Their portfolio is the widest available of any manufacturer and they work hard to continually refresh their ranges to keep ahead of market trends. Their Christmas range includes the mainstays like turkey, bacon and stuffing but also new and innovative additions such as vegan sweet potato falafel and boxing day chutney wraps, and pigs under blanket paninis.
