We’re proud to be supporting the #BangInSomeBeans campaign, led by The Food Foundation and Veg Power CIC, which encourages people across the UK to eat more beans and pulses as part of healthier, more sustainable diets.
As Foodbuy, we sit at the heart of procurement for Compass Group UK&I. That means we have a real opportunity to influence what gets sourced and served across thousands of sites, and to help make more sustainable choices easier for our clients.
That’s why we at Foodbuy are helping to deliver Compass Group’s commitment to increase beans and pulses procurement by 15% by 2028.
Beans and pulses are simple, versatile ingredients that can make a real difference.
They’re nutritious, high in fibre and protein, and have a lower environmental impact than many other protein sources.
For us, the opportunity is practical: helping make these ingredients easier to access and use across everyday menus.
In simple terms, more beans and pulses in our supply chain means:
The commitment forms a key part of Compass’ wider sustainability strategy, “Our Planet Promise”, which has set our four key areas of focus for the business – climate, waste, nature and health – as it seeks to adopt more sustainable practices in its operations and wider supply chain.
We’ll be working with our suppliers and clients to:
Increase availability of beans and pulse-based products
Support innovation in new and existing product ranges
Help embed these ingredients more consistently into menus
This is about making small, practical changes in procurement that add up to a bigger impact across the food system.
We’re proud to support the #BangInSomeBeans campaign and to be part of a wider movement to shift diets towards more sustainable, plant-rich foods.
We’ll continue working with our suppliers and clients to make better, more sustainable choices easier to deliver every day.
