Foodbuy’s Charity Day and Gala Dinner Raises Over £50,000 for Duchenne UK

2 August 2023

Foodbuy, a leading food procurement organisation, hosted a charity day and gala dinner at Celtic Manor Resort and raised over £50,000 for it's charity partner, Duchenne UK.

On Wednesday, 12th July, the Foodbuy charity day saw over 150 guests, including suppliers across food & beverages and non-food categories, enjoy a day of outdoor activities, a gala dinner and a live auction at the Celtic Manor Resort in aid of Duchenne UK.

The event was a resounding success with over £50,000 raised to support an incredible cause. This achievement is a testament to incredible support of our suppliers, clients, and supporters who united for a common cause. Donations were raised for Duchenne UK through ticket sales and an auction.

Our Charity Partner

Duchenne UK is the leading charity working towards accelerating treatments and finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the most common genetic killer of children. Foodbuy’s partnership with Duchenne UK began in 2017 and we have since raised over £400,000 for the charity.

“This is a fantastic amount to raise, and crucial funding for our work. A huge thank you to Foodbuy from everyone at Duchenne UK. The Foodbuy team are one of our biggest supporters. We are so grateful for all they have done for us, by organising this amazing fundraising event, but also their support over the years. Foodbuy’s vital support has enabled us to take important steps in changing the lives of people with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This includes setting up a national care programme and developing technologies to support independence such as the SMART Suit.”

Emily Reuben, Co-Founder and CEO, Duchenne UK

“Our charity day and gala dinner has been a resounding success and raising over £50,000 for Duchenne UK in just one day is truly an incredible achievement.  I am immensely proud of our team and our dedicated suppliers who made this event possible and helping to make a profound impact on the lives of those affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.”

Karl Atkins, Managing Director, Foodbuy UK

The success of this event brings us one step closer to our collective five-year target to raise £500,000 for Duchenne UK, a life changing charity.

Thank you to everyone for being part of this remarkable journey towards positive change. With each step we take, we can support Duchenne UK in their relentless pursuit of a cure and brighter future for those affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
