Foodbuy Group launches social enterprise supplier mentorship programme

1 December 2025

We are proud to have launched an innovative new mentoring programme, which aims to support social enterprise suppliers by connecting them with mentors across our expert teams at Foodbuy Group. Through this, we support suppliers in developing a comprehensive understanding of Foodbuy Group, our parent company, Compass Group UK&I, and the wider industry, while gaining supply chain knowledge and operational insights. It provides a mutually beneficial opportunity for suppliers to gain industry-leading knowledge from our teams, whilst we gain new perspectives from leading food and drink social enterprises.

Mentors and mentees are partnered based on the preferred focus, aligned topics and areas of expertise. These cover everything from finance, business strategy and marketing, to sustainability, compliance and nutrition. Current participants include HumaniTea, Kwerky Foods and Rubies in the Rubble.

Along with learning from our procurement, supply chain, and culinary expertise, our teams will offer these suppliers a thorough insight into how to win in partnership with us, y deep diving into our the needs of our diverse member base, which spans a wide range of sectors, from hospitality, hotels, QSR and casual dining, to education, healthcare, travel and more.

Through this mentorship scheme, we aim to support suppliers who do good for people and planet, whilst delivering sustainable options to our members.

Tina Chen, Founder at HumaniTea, and participant in the mentoring scheme said:
The mentoring sessions have been super insightful and eye-opening. Our mentor is exemplary and possesses a wealth of knowledge of Foodbuy Group, Compass Group, and foodservice in general. I have learned about rebates, commercials, the tender process, sampling tactics, and the ins and outs of foodservice. Now, I feel more equipped with the skills and knowledge to go into business meetings and discuss commercial terms confidently.”

Harinder Singh, Head of Sustainability and Compliance at Foodbuy Group said:
“As a large business, we know we have the size and scale to make an impact in the industry, and we have a responsibility to use this to help others and to make a difference. We’ve got an outstanding group of mentors and an equally exciting lineup of SMEs and social enterprises taking part, and I’m sure these partnerships will prove beneficial to both parties.”
